StoneWire announce their long-awaited album 'Life As We Know It' and premiere 'FTM' their first video single from the album. 'FTM' will be available for digital download & streaming from 2nd August, with the full 10-track album dropping on 1st November 2019.
StoneWire draw from many wells - fusing elements of classic rock, blues and Southern rock to create a melting pot of addictive melody and biting riffs. Together, frontwoman Sky Hunter's soaring powerhouse rock vocals and gravely blues tones and StoneWire's conscious whole-band chemistry and synergy, all give the brew a distinctive tang that has built up their fan following. The band are Gaz Annable – Guitar, Duncan Greenway – Guitar, Steve Briggs - Bass and Rob Glasner – Drums.
Sky Hunter is famed for delivering electrifying live performance yet StoneWire aren't all about the frontwoman: they're very much a band. “We write together as a five-piece,” Sky stresses, “One of us comes in with an idea and that could be anyone, then we just start joining in and jamming it until a song starts to take shape! It stands us in good stead for the live shows: We have five people with different influences and that makes for some amazing music – and it’s music that all of us are invested in.”
Since StoneWire released their debut album ‘When The Crow Flies’, the band have toured across the UK and in Europe and saw them support Michael Schenker, Swiss Rockers Gotthard, guitar legend Bernie Marsden, and just recently The Cadillac Three. The band have also played some great festivals over the years, seeing them billed alongside Black Star Riders and King King, to name but a few. In June 2018 they played a storming set at the O2 Arena in London for Stone Free Festival - after a successful HRH debut at HRH BLUES -StoneWire were asked back to Sheffield to play the main stage at HRH C.R.O.W.S.
After a 5 year gap between recordings, this triumphant new album, 'Life As We Know It' puts them right back in the fast lane. The energy and quality of the tracks more than justifies StoneWire's long, often painful, search for a second six-stringer. 'Life As We Know It' is the sound of a band reborn and the sound of a passion reignited. As a foursome, StoneWire made a strident statement of intent; as a five-piece, this hard-rocking band of nations really means business! 'Life As We Know It' better reflects StoneWire's live sound and feel. The band say, “Many times people would tell us that they love the CDs but think we take it to another level in our live shows: that the sound is grittier, and Sky’s vocals are more raw and stand out even more. So we wrote some 'stompier' songs that reflect our live feel and Rob ensured the recording and mixing was kept raw and authentic. The end result is 'Life As We Know It': an album, we believe, that really reflects our evolution as a band and a 5-piece song writing team.” 'FTM' is a politically-charged song, steeped in social commentary and the first single released from the new album. Sky explains its inspiration. “I came from a Black Stone Cherry gig at Shepherd's Bush and we were all in a rocking mood. As we got to the tube station, I saw a homeless man sitting there with his son. The boy was not older than 12 years old. I was so shocked to see a child on the streets; I couldn’t get the image out of my mind. As I was reflecting on what is happening in the country (and the world really), with over 4 million children living in poverty in the UK, people having to use foodbanks despite having jobs, it struck me that we are in deep crisis and many are only one pay check away from having a real problem. Politicians pay lip service during their campaigns, yet very little changes after they get elected. I understand it’s not the happiest of topics, but this is what StoneWire is and how I write lyrics. I try to deal with the whole palette of life: the happy fun times as much as the more serious issues.”
